Mock exams

Mock exams in the exam's own format

Up to 90 questions in 90 minutes, a mix of multiple choice and simulations, and a flag-and-review screen before you submit. The content is always our own; the format is CompTIA's.

How a mock is put together

Each mock starts with a few simulations, then fills the remaining questions across the exam's domains in proportion to CompTIA's published weights. Within each domain it spreads questions across objectives and prefers ones you haven't seen.

The timer runs from 90:00. You can flag any question for review, jump around from the review grid, and change answers until you submit. Strict mode turns off pausing.

Learners who test with accommodations can turn on 1.5× or 2× time, and the timer announces at 10 and 5 minutes left.

Results you can learn from

Every question opens to its explanation

After you submit, the results show your score by domain, a map of objectives, and time per question. Filter by missed, flagged, or unsure, or step through only the misses. Each one opens to the full explanation screen.

Save what you missed

There's no saving during a timed mock, so it stays realistic. Afterward, save all your flagged or missed questions to a flashcard set in one step.

A readiness band, not a fake score

CompTIA scores exams on a scale of 100 to 900 that isn't a percentage, and there's no public way to convert practice results onto it. So CertLighthouse never shows a predicted score.

Instead, each exam gets one of three bands, worked out from your last three mocks on questions you hadn't seen before and weighted by domain. The thresholds start conservative and are recalibrated from learners who tell us how their exam went.

  • Not yet

Keep working through drills and your weakest domains.

  • Getting close

Most domains are solid; one or two still need time.

  • Ready

Consistently strong across every domain on unseen questions.

Common questions

How many mock exams are there?
The launch question bank for each exam is large enough for five full mocks with no repeated questions, and new questions are added over time.
Are mock exam questions the same as the real ones?
No. Mocks match the exam's format and domain weights, but every question is original, written from the published objectives and public sources.
Is there a free mock exam?
The free tier is planned to include one 30-question mini mock per exam, with full explanations.
